Something Borrowed

I stumbled across these guys on YouTube and I watched just about every cover video I could find. I love how these were taken and re-molded into another genre – and done well. I try to embrace many different musical influences and this one just fit the bill. I also loved the instrumentation and the harmonies are pretty darn tight.

In other news, we have a lot of music we are working on in the studio and are getting ready to throw some new stuff out on SoundCloud – when that happens, I will of course, shout it out here.

Without further ado:

If the previous didn’t do it for you, try this one:

A Good Place To Start

Well, I’ve certainly been AWOL the last couple of months. A lot has been going on, some good, some bad, some blah, blah, blah. Thought I’d throw a couple of things up for you to peruse.
First, for anyone who is interested in starting out in recording music there’s a site that shows you the basics of mixing and listening….and you get to play around with Peter Gabriel’s music..and post your own mixes in SoundCloud. I’ve only touched some of the basic parts (pretty hard to pull my butt out of my own studio) but what I’ve seen is pretty interesting.

On another note, recently spent a night with the legendary Reverend Horton Heat. Totally ass-kicking (and I so want that guitar). Here’s a live video for your enjoyment. Hope to post some pictures from the show soon.

New Episode of In the Studio and more studio news~

It has been a hectic month – allow me to es-plain.  My personal computer (not the studio computer) had a hard drive failure and I had to order, install, etc.  a new hard drive and get it up and running which is now done, thus the long silence on the blog.  Ugh (insert long exhausted sigh here).  The computer is dead – long live the computer.

We put up another episode of In the Studio and also uploaded some other listening pleasure on the YouTube channel from ERP (Electrostatic Rhythm Pigs) and in the next month will have some music from other artists featured there as well. We have recently been filming footage for another music video due to be released hopefully by the end of the summer. In addition, we have been updating the merchandise store (more on that to come) and have added some new items.

Last but not least – we are working a complete re-do of the label site and will no doubt make some additions to the studio site and when we do, we will of course let you know!  Enjoy.

Wolf Alice

OK so while sifting through my stream over at Soundcloud I found these guys… well, that and an article I saw on twitter mentioned them – er, something close to that (my memory is suffering this week every week)?  ANYWAY – I really liked their sound and I thought I’d provide two examples.

I really dig the video, but I also like the cover they did of this song; I like that it is live and imperfect.  Yet somehow it still sounds cool to hear the song in a totally different light.

Below is an original of theirs  –  the song grabbed me, but the video was cool too.  You gotta love a guy sporting  a dress, wearing make up, and looking pretty darn vulnerable doing it.  Why?  Dunno – just go watch it.

Here is the SoundCloud track of the same song above, for those of you not interested in seeing the video.
